Archives and news about our Archives

A request

A group of members is at present working on designing and creating a digital archive of items in the BDHS Archives, which will be accessed by via a linked website.

Volunteers from the membership to assist with transcibing data about the records selected to be digitized would be very welcome.

Please contact Georgina Doherty to discuss how you can do this either at Society meetings or via the Contacts page. No technical knowledge is required.

For the time being:

A list of items held in the paper and photo archive can be found by clicking the icon below

For Collectanea and Journal items see the tags in the list to the left

For Oral History indexes see the icons below. The Oral Histories have been copied to digital media and soon will be available via the new linked Archive website. The links below are provided for early information and are only listings - click an icon to open:

Oral History Tape Index - by Subject

Oral Tapes - Additional Information about the content of each tape

There will be minimal functionality via the digital archive website at first, but keep watching!  To see 'work in progress' on the digital archive website click on the icon below.

Members can access the existing physical BDHS Archives by arrangement with the society's Archivist, who can be contacted via 'Contact Us' (on menu, left). Once the digital project is complete the physical archive will be moved to be lodged at ESRO.

Please note that whilst our archivist is happy to try to answer any specific questions that non-members may have we cannot enter into in depth or long term research for non-Members.
